For so long the people of this community have been waiting for improvement and development in the community. But now that development has arrived it’s apparent that it’s development only for the over-developed (the Rich). The City-Government is using tax-payer dollars of those who don’t have to those who already have too much – taking from those who have limited housing and shopping alternatives to those with unlimited options. Welfare for the rich is not a practice of a truly civilized society.
The plans for Albee Square Mall will begin a pattern which will eventually clear away the working class people of this community, like just so much dried brush. That which is built within a community should be affordable to those within the community. If you build with 80% luxury apartments in mind, you have a community of at least 80% luxury income earners in mind. This will forecast doom for the present community.
Let’s reverse (flip) that 80/20 scheme so that the hope of those living and shopping in Downtown Brooklyn can be respected.
